The Captain and the Boat

The “DRUMBEAT IV” is a 40-foot, 1974 Post “Sport Cruiser”. It is powered by twin Cummins diesels, model 555 (“Triple Nickels”), 240 hp each engine. It has a large fishing cockpit with a fighting chair, large fish box, raw water wash down, 6 rod holders built in the cover board, 2 rod holders in the fighting chair and 2 rod holders on the fly bridge rail. The salon is heated or cooled (as the weather dictates), has 2 lounge chairs and 1 sofa. There is also a TV with DVD and a Bose Wave Radio (AM-FM/CD). There is a galley w/sink, microwave and range. There are 5 berths in 2 staterooms and a private head w/sink & shower.
The “Drumbeat IV” is a large, comfortable, 15-knot boat. It’s a classic New Jersey built Sport Fishing boat.

     CAPTAIN KEITH MILLER is the owner/captain of the “Drumbeat IV”. Captain Miller has been operating vessels on the Chesapeake Bay for 36 plus years. This is the fourth “Drumbeat”.
     The first was a 25-foot Trojan that he operated out of Jamestown Virginia and fished and cruised the James and Chickahominy rivers, Hampton Roads and the lower Chesapeake Bay.
     “Drumbeat II” was a 30-foot Trojan that was fished and cruised in the James, Chickahominy and York rivers as well as Hampton Roads and the lower Chesapeake Bay.
     “Drumbeat III” was a 36-foot Viking that fished and cruised the same areas as the “Drumbeat II”.
     In 1987, Captain Miller got the “Drumbeat IV” from the northern Chesapeake Bay area. Along with his wife and family, they have fished and cruised this 40 foot Post from Cape Hatteras to Baltimore including the Virginia Beach area, Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, Hampton Roads, Cape Charles, the Piankatank & Rappahannock Rivers and the mid Chesapeake Bay areas in Maryland up to Baltimore.
     In 2004, Captain Miller retired from his job at Anheuser Busch. He got his USCG License and is now ready to share the fun and excitement of fishing on the “DRUMBEAT IV”.
